We are looking for an Investment Accounting Manager to join our team for a fixed term contract ending in October 2025. Where in Wellcome will I be working? You will be working within the Investment Accounting team in Finance reporting to Investment Accounting Controller. We are looking for an Investment Accounting Manager who will be responsible for providing accurate investment financial reporting, and ensuring appropriate financial controls are in place. This role will lead on investment accounting processes for Wellcome's public equities, derivatives and hedge funds within the investment portfolio. What will I be doing? This role forms part of the Investment Accounting Team reporting to the Investment Accounting Controller, within the Financial Accounting Team. This role will be task managing a part qualified accountant and working directly with our Investment Operations team and our external custodian. As an Investment Accounting Manager, you will be responsible for :
    • The investment accounting processes for specific assets classes, including:
      • Investment accounting adjustments;
      • Control and reconciliation processes;
      • Management of third-party information providers;
      • Group and investment subsidiaries financial statements;
      • Liaison with external and internal audit.; and
      • Management information and analysis.
    • The supervision and review of the tasks undertaken by accounting team members that support the financial reporting of specific assets classes. Act as a coach / mentor to junior members of the team.
    • Design and delivery of investment valuations processes for specific assets classes including:
      • Implementing valuation review and controls; and
      • Preparing reporting and analysis for Valuation Group.
    • Ensuring new investments can be embedded within finance operations and responsible for developing strong Investment stakeholder relationships relevant to public equities, derivatives and hedge funds.
    • Contribute to a diverse and inclusive culture across the organisation, collaborating across departments.
    Is this job for me? We are looking for someone self-motivated with problem solving skills. An ideal candidate will have experience accounting for investments under new UK GAAP (or IFRS) and with some management experience, although not a requirement. We are looking for someone who has:
    • ACA/ACCA/CIMA or relevant qualification
    • Investments or financial services accounting (UK GAAP or IFRS) experience and
    • Excellent analytical and problem solving skills
    • Able to manage own workload with focus on delivery and capable of working effectively under pressure, managing multiple team priorities
    • Strong interpersonal skills and an aptitude for building relationships across all levels
