The Northumberland and North Tyneside Universal Crisis Team are delighted to be looking for an Advanced Occupational Therapist to join our multi-disciplinary team within the Working Age Adult pathway.

This is a new post within the service, developed in conjunction with the ICB as part of the wider work around supporting safe and sustainable discharge from hospital, as well as preventing repeated episodes of mental health crisis and possible admission.

We understand that the unique role of the Occupational Therapist within the multidisciplinary team, can play a valuable role in helping our service users to develop an occupational life that helps them to reduce risks to themselves or other people, stay well, to be connected to their communities and supporters, and to feel a sense of purpose and satisfaction.

We know that the presence of an occupational viewpoint within the multidisciplinary team will enhance the quality of assessment and formulation at the point of crisis assessments and as part of home based treatment.

By growing our multidisciplinary team of Nurses, Doctors, Psychologists and Social Workers, to include Occupational Therapy, we hope to actively work as part of the CNTW Community Mental Health Transformation programme in supporting Service Users to access the best community based care within their local area with a clear understanding of their own needs and what may help them to stay well and to progress with their own recovery journey.

We are looking for a candidate with relevant knowledge and experience to the clinical area, significant experience of risk assessment and safety planning and the ability to demonstrate their leadership, knowledge and experience as required by this senior clinical role.

We aim to attract and retain a diverse, talented and committed workforce, who are caring and compassionate, and therefore able to meet the demands of the modern NHS now and in the future.

CNTW NHS Foundation Trust will not provide sponsorship for this role.
Advanced Occupational Therapy skills, knowledge and expertise to work with adults in a collaborative style.
    Occupational Therapy Degree or MSc
Awareness and understanding of professional accountability, HCPC and RCOT standards and other local and national initiatives
Demonstrate knowledge and use of specific occupational therapy assessments.
    Experience of teaching and training
Risk Assessment and Risk Management / Safety Planning skills.

This post is subject to the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act (Exceptions Order) 1975 and as such it will be necessary for a submission for Disclosure to be made to the Disclosure and Barring Service (formerly known as CRB) to check for any previous criminal convictions.
