Job summary:

The Community Support Assistant is based at MOD Boscombe Down within the Nicolson Centre just outside the main entrance.

This vital role in the wider Community Support Team looks after an active and busy Station of over 350 service personnel and their families.


The Community Support Assistant role looks after all the administration and liaison regarding community engagement and welfare support to Station personnel and the local community.

This position is advertised at 37 hours per week.

Flexible working/Working From Home will be considered, taking into account Station needs.


Job description:


The Community Support Assistant will work as part of the wider growing Community Support Team currently consisting of Station Community Support Officer (SCSO) and two locally employed civilians.

The community Support Assistant will deputise for the SCSO and undertake duties appropriate to their grade when the SCSO is otherwise engaged or absent.


The Community Support Assistant will be the first person seen by Service Personnel, their families, and the local community, as they walk through the doors of the Nicolson Centre, a busy and thriving community hub.


Duties will include basic administration relating to the Nicolson Centre such as bookings of rooms and signposting for welfare support.

They will act as the Secretary to the Station Community Support Committee organising meetings, communications, and the taking and issuing of minutes.


The Community Support Assistant will undertake Building Custodian duties, ensuring H&S and Fire Safety procedures are maintained and in place as well as facilitating the general maintenance of the building and reporting jobs if needed.

They will have oversight of two further welfare buildings and the booking/use of those buildings.
