The Bank's Central Procurement Team is part of Shared Services, which has responsibility to The Central Services Targeting Model design created a new Shared Services Directorate in 2019, formed by centralising operational colleagues from Human Resource, Finance, Technology, Property, Procurement and Security to enable a focus on operational service delivery.


The Bank exists to ensure monetary stability and to contribute to financial stability; the Shared Services Directorate provides the infrastructure and services required to support the Bank's critical functions.


Department Overview


The Procurement department is responsible for ensuring value-for-money for the Bank and compliance with the procurement policies and regulations, and managing third-party risk.


Job description


This role is part of the Supplier Management (SM) team, responsible for delivering the supplier management framework in line with the commercial policies, and providing challenge to the people doing contract/supplier management in the business areas.

We aim to drive consistency, repeatability, and to support continuous improvement of SM practice and behaviours across the Bank. You will support the Bank's supplier management community and Business Partnering teams in implementing best practice supplier management.


You will also be liaising on a regular basis with other functional teams and key stakeholders, to ensure that (a) the SM framework is aligned to the Bank's operational and strategic objectives, and (b) key principles are reflected in our activities and behaviours.


The role reports to the Supplier Management Lead, and is divided into three related parts, whose relative importance will be adjusted as the role holder progresses.

Data analytics & reporting (c.60%)


You will maintain supplier management records / MI and conduct basic data analysis, working with the rest of the SM and wider Procurement teams and using the procurement systems.

Using the data, you will also calculate metrics relating to compliance with the Bank's Supplier Management Standards, and the rate of implementation of the Supplier Management framework.

Process implementation & stakeholder communication drafting (c.20%)


You will support the rollout of the Bank's Supplier Management framework by helping to track progress, drafting communications and helping to administer training for colleagues on post-contract activities, ensuring communication channels between Procurement and the business are maintained.

Communications management (c.20%)


You will help to manage the team inbox, respond to business queries and work with our stakeholders to help them to understand our SM processes in line with the Bank's Supplier Management Standards.


To encourage your development and understanding of the full procurement lifecycle process, we will also give you some opportunity to work in different teams within the wider Procurement team.


Knowledge, Skills and Experience required

Technical capabilities:


  • Demonstrable data analysis skills, including strong knowledge of Excel, and notably creating userfriendly spreadsheets, ready for user input

Behavioural capabilities:


  • Good written communication skills
  • Demonstrable excellent organisational, planning and time management skills
  • Demonstrable ability to work on multiple workstreams simultaneously
  • Selfmotivation, with the ability to work both on your own initiative and as part of a team
It would also be advantageous to have an understanding of supplier management principles and key practices.
