As part of Global Financial Crimes Compliance (GFCC), the EMEA Sanctions Compliance team ensure compliance with the firm's global sanctions processes, in partnership with colleagues in line of business Compliance, US and Asia Compliance, local EMEA in-country Compliance teams, and the lines of business.


The EMEA Sanctions Oversight and Governance Team, which sits within the EMEA Sanctions Compliance Team, is responsible for regional governance including the management and reporting of blocked property and is a liaison point for sanctions related matters from lines of business and in-country Compliance.

As a member of the Oversight and Governance team you will need to demonstrate independent decision making and judgement and must be able to adapt to a rapidly changing business and regulatory environment.

The role requires a wide variety of strengths and capabilities, including the ability to:

  • Understand various LOB products and services
  • Produce key reports and metrics for local / regional / U.S. regulators, key financial crime oversight / business control meetings and In-Country Compliance
  • Coordinate EMEA Sanctions Compliance engagement for exams, external and internal audits in the region
  • Partner with regional Compliance Officers to implement Firmwide Sanctions Standards and EMEA regional sanctions service level agreements
  • Keep informed of any changes to processes and procedures, regulatory change and ensure open dialogue with colleagues across the EMEA region
  • Develop and maintain a good working knowledge of HMT, EU, OFAC and other sanctions programs through training and research

Minimum Skills, Experience and Qualifications

  • Knowledge of banking / payment processing and/or relevant experience of Compliance activities particularly in relation to AML / Sanctions
  • Strong working knowledge of Excel / Word / PowerPoint
  • Selfstarter with strong interpersonal and organisational skills with ability to work independently but escalate matters as appropriate
  • Ability to prioritize, work under pressure and meet tight deadlines
  • Quality focused work ethic and strong controls mindset, understand regulatory requirements, and adhere to appropriate controls
  • Analytical mind
  • Clear and concise verbal and written communication
  • Bachelor's degree (or equivalent) or evidence of comparable academic / work achievement
