    The MRC Toxicology Unit at the University of Cambridge is an internationally renowned institution focussed on the delivery of field-changing mechanistic insights into toxicology and disease.

    An opportunity has arisen at the Unit for a Facilities Manager with responsibility for the physical infrastructure, facilities and high quality support services in order to support effective operation of research activities.

    The role:

  • Management and leadership of the estates team
  • Project manage major and minor building projects including scientific projects
  • Undertake space management and planning
  • Manage and oversee scientific support and estates budgets
  • Oversee service contracts and existing warranties
  • Manage Fixed Asset register
  • Responsible for Emergency Action Plan
  • Represent the Unit at appropriate committees
  • Act as Departmental Safety Officer Deputy and Fire Manager Deputy
  • Provide key input into business continuity plans
  • Chair and promote the Green Committee for the Unit
  • What you will need:

  • Graduate level education in a science subject
  • Experience of managing and negotiating contracts
  • The ability to manage staff and build an effective team
  • Experience of project planning and delivery
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to produce and present concise reports
  • Experience of health and safety management is desirable
  • Research experience in a biological laboratory setting would be an advantage
  • This is an open-ended position funded by the MRC.
