Are you friendly and caring with a warm heart? Then we'd love you to join our Step into Care Traineeship.
We are offering a fantastic opportunity for individuals to train for a career in adult social care.

The Step into Care Traineeship is an opportunity to get a taste of working life, achieve a qualification and take the first step into a career.

The programme is being delivered in partnership with Wigan and Leigh College, Wigan Council Adult Social Care services and our local ethical care providers.

You will be supported by a great team. A busy, buzzy bunch of people who support adults living in a range of settings.

You'll be part of one of our lively teams supporting people with everyday life skills and activities so that they can live as independently and happily as possible.

This could include supporting adult customers with learning difficulties, mental health problems or those with dementia.

Our customers have varying levels of support needs and you'll be trained to deliver a consistently excellent high standard of friendly, professional care and support in line with the individual's support plans.

You're there to encourage customers to realise their goals and aspirations as outlined in their support plans and to assist them in developing strong links within the community, building their confidence, and live their best life.

Don't worry if you don't have previous experience as we will make sure you are fully trained and receive all the help and support you need to deliver an excellent, caring service.

What we are interested in is you and the personal qualities you can bring to this opportunity.

What will a typical day involve?
Well, there is no typical day. Some days will be spent in the college setting undertaking learning for you to achieve a formal qualification. Other days will be spent supporting adults with their daily living skills, providing reassurance, good company, and conversation. Every customer is different and so every day is different.

What you will find is that the days fly by, you'll be surrounded by a positive team, and you'll find a real sense of fulfilment in being able to support your customers.

Will there be training?

Of course We provide an induction, and you will attend Wigan and Leigh College (Wigan Campus) to achieve the "Preparing to Work in Adult Social Care" qualification.

And if you need to improve your maths and English, we will support you with this. You do not need any qualifications and you will be paid a weekly college bursary to cover your expenses.

If you're interested in working in care, you will learn a lot from the people and how each person is different.

It's really helped me to become ready for working in care." - Kelsey, 2022 trainee, now employed at Personal Care Services
