A fantastic and well known school in Gloucester are recruiting for an Accounts Assistant to join their team.

You'll be assisting the Finance Manager with all tasks from supporting purchase ledger and billing through to nominal ledger and audit preparation.

You must have a minimum 1 years experience gained in a similar role and will ideally be AAT qualified or studying towards.

This is a great opportunity for someone wishing to gain a professional accountancy qualification as study support is provided.

Graduates considered providing some work experience in a similar role has been gained. A DBS check will be need tobe completed upon offer of employment.

Interviews will take place in person at the School on Thursday 12th January 2023.

You will need to be available on this date for around 2-3 hours to complete DBS forms, interview and be given a walk around.

This cannot be done over TEAMS.


Other key responsibilities will include:

  • Purchase ledger
  • Generating the weekly payment run for invoices approaching their due dates


  • Nominal ledger

  • Reconciliation of key control accounts/ensuring sufficient backing support is available to support closing balances


  • Cash book

  • Reconciliation of funds received via collections


  • Sales ledger

  • Collating all information provided by the Bursary Administrator, taking the lead on invoice generation and customer queries
  • Assisting the nursery setting for successful/auditable claims for Early Years Funding
  • Assisting the Finance Manager with the external audit preparation

Requirements:


  • Previous experience in a similar role preferred but not essential
  • AAT qualified or working towards or QBE
  • Be willing to continue studies to undertake Chartered Accounting qualifications with either ACCA or CIMA
  • Knowledge of MS Office with a good understanding of Excel and its basic manipulation
  • Able to work independently
  • Be adaptable to help with tasks which don't necessarily sit within their role be flexible within their role to help overcome busy periods
  • Prior experience on AccountsIQ or Staffology would be advantageous, but full training will be given
  • DBS approval required
