We accept referrals for Orthopaedic Surgery, Soft Tissue Surgery, Neurology and Neurosurgery, Internal Medicine, Dentistry, Cardiology, Anaesthesia, Dermatology, Diagnostic Imaging, Oncology and Physiotherapy.

We have comprehensive and established clinical and non-clinical programmes for training, development, and CPD.

We are based in the South of England just south of Winchester, close to the M3 and national and international transport links in a state of the art facility.

Our well-established Feline Hyperthyroid Clinic (FHC) is one of a small number of dedicated facilities in the UK, offering radioactive iodine treatment to hyperthyroid cats from all over the South of England.

The FHC boasts exceptional hospitalisation facilities and working environment in a pleasant, rural area of the county, just over a mile away from our main hospital.

Management of the clinic is primarily nurse-led, supported by a team of RCVS recognised Specialists in Internal Medicine, residents, interns, technicians and other non-clinical staff.

We are looking for an RVN to provide additional nursing and administration support to the Lead FHC nurse and our Oncology department.

The role involves a rotation into both departments, with standard working hours Monday to Friday, between 8am and 6pm with some participation in the FHC weekend and Bank Holiday rota.

Duties at the FHC would primarily be patient-centred, including assisting with admission procedures of new patients (blood sampling, blood pressure etc), nursing care and husbandry of inpatients (both boarding and in the radiation ward), client communication, assisting with administration of radioactive iodine to patients, blood sampling patients before discharge, and performing discharge appointments.

Other duties required on an ad-hoc basis include radiation monitoring of patients and the environment, overseeing radiation dosimetry of staff, radioactive waste management, staff training and maintenance of computerised records to ensure compliance with the Environment Agency, HSE and the Ionising Safety Radiation Policy.

No experience working with radioactive iodine is necessary as full training and support will be provided, including funded CPD to complete an external Radiation Protection Supervisor course.

Duties within our Oncology department would include patient handling, support with admission, blood sampling, assisting with the administration of chemotherapy protocols, supporting clients and liaising with our enthusiastic Oncology team.
