    Finance Director

    Part-time PE-backed FD role

    c. £100,000 per annum + stock options

    Our client, a specialist investor, is seeking a hands-on Finance Director to join two of their businesses on a part-time basis. With a focus on growth and expansion, both companies operate in the pharma services/CRO space, this presents an exceptional opportunity for an experienced financial leader to play a pivotal role in driving financial performance and maximising shareholder value. The first business is an existing CRO company requiring an FD due to retirement. The second business will be a pharma services buy-and-build platform starting from July. The overall opportunity will require 3-4 days per week.

    As the FD, you will be instrumental in shaping the financial strategy and direction of the company, working closely with the executive team and private equity stakeholders. You will lead the finance function, overseeing financial planning, budgeting, forecasting, and reporting processes to ensure optimal financial performance and compliance. You will be responsible for improving margins, driving revenue growth, and maximising EBIDTA.

    Key Responsibilities:

    • Develop and execute financial strategies aligned with the company's growth objectives.
    • Provide strategic financial guidance to the CEO and board of directors, leveraging financial analysis and insights to drive informed decision-making.
    • Oversee financial reporting, including monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements, ensuring accuracy, integrity, and compliance with regulatory requirements.
    • Manage cash flow, working capital, and capital allocation strategies to optimize liquidity and support operational needs.
    • Manage a lean finance function with experience of using outsourced specialists to help achieve deliverables.
    • Collaborate with internal and stakeholders to lead on M&A pipelining, due diligence and integration.

    Key experience

    • Qualified Accountant – ACCA, CIMA, ACA or equivalent.
    • Proven track record of success in senior financial leadership roles, preferably within a private equity-backed environment.
    • Understanding of pharmaceutical services.
    • Understanding of the dynamics of a small PE/VC-backed business.
    • Track record of M&A would be beneficial but not required.
