Edinburgh Printmakers are seeking new Board Members to shape and guide their future direction.

As a Board Member, you will play a crucial role in safeguarding the future sustainability of their organisation, fostering artistic excellence and contributing to the cultural enrichment of their community.


About the role:


Edinburgh Printmakers has vacancies for 4 new Board Members, one of whom will be Chair of the Finance and Risk Committee.

Further Board Members will be recruited later in 2024. Trustees hold the oversight of finance, risk, policy and strategy. They attend Board meetings and contribute to specific working groups on a voluntary basis. Trustees are elected to serve for a three-year term. After an initial term, trustees may be re-elected for additional three-year terms.

Knowledge and Experience:

Directors are selected on the basis of skills and expertise gained in their professional
occupations, therefore bringing to the Board management knowledge and expertise
directly linked to their profession, organisation, or employers' area of operations, such as:

  • Experience in non-profit governance and/or leadership
  • Financial expertise, including budgeting, financial analysis, and risk management
  • Knowledge or background in fundraising, heritage, education, HR, and commercial property law
  • Understanding of the visual arts sector and the challenges it faces
  • Ability to work collaboratively and constructively with other board members and staff
  • Experience in marketing and public relations
Edinburgh Printmakers will take into account a combination of personal attributes, knowledge, and experience
in selecting Board Members.


Overview of Responsibilities:


  • Acting in the best interests of the organization.
  • Approving the Edinburgh Printmakers overall direction, major policies and budgets
  • Supporting the senior staff team including the CEO
  • Ensuring the company operates within the law and is exercising good practice
  • Complying with all OSCR (Scottish Charity Regulator) standards and duties along with Edinburgh Printmakers Board Handbook
