    Jackson Hogg are engaged with a specialist engineering business in the Middlesborough area with their appointment of a HSE Advisor.

    This HSE Advisor role is an 18 Month Fixed Term Contract, with the potential to be extended or even made permanent depending on business requirements.

    HSE Advisor Requirements

    • Provide HSE support / guidance to all staff within Business Area and organisation.
    • Act as Business Area focal point for Safety and Environmental Champions and Safety Reps.
    • Act as Business Area focal point for occupational HSE topics including but not limited to; noise at work; control of emissions, working at height, control of substances hazardous to health; manual handling; safe use of personal protective equipment, confined space entry, health and wellbeing.
    • Undertake regular site visits supporting and promoting the Zero Harm vision, HSEQcoaching and the implementation of behavioral safety approaches.
    • Assist in the development and review of HSE Management Systems, Safe Systems of Work, Risk Assessments and KPIs where appropriate.
    • Promote compliance with regulatory health and safety and environmental requirements, developing and driving health and safety and environmental related campaigns and programs to support continual improvement.
    • Undertake inspections and audits of premises, plant, equipment, working arrangements and practices to establish the effectiveness of health and safety policies and procedures.
    • Participate in Business Area HSE meetings providing advice and guidance as required.
    • Investigate and report on incidents, dangerous occurrences and injuries at work recommending any remedial measures to prevent a recurrence and ensure statutory notifications to enforcing authorities are completed.
    • Monitor and analyse relevant statistics and produce key business indicators to identify any trends and actions.
    • Liaise with the Health and Safety Executive, insurance companies and other enforcing bodies on all matters related to the position.
    • Provide support for other HSE Advisors with respect to Skills Matrix.
    • Deputise for HSE advisors and the HSE Manager during periods of leave / absence.
    HSE Advisor Requirements
    • A NEBOSH General Certificate/ Diploma or Level 6 qualification
    • Extensive experience of working in a similar role
    • Evidence of promoting a positive Health and Safety culture
    • Experience of developing and implementing health and safety policies, conducting risk assessments, accident/incident investigations and health and safety inspections
