This role will support IEG to create and promote a safe, respectful and positive environment on our Stamford Campus.

As Duty Principal/Student Engagement Lead you will reinforce clear expectations around behaviours and work collaboratively with all staff across the organisation to ensure issues are dealt with quickly, consistently and effectively.

The role will promote and reinforce positive student behaviours across the campus.

You will respond to the needs of students and staff and manage incidents in line with the disciplinary process whilst proactively working to minimise learner behavioural issues.


The role will require you to work with the Head of Welfare and Engagement and lead on the development and implementation of the Student engagement and Student voice strategy, ensuring high levels of engagement and participation.

A key focus will be to foster positive relationships and promote an inclusive environment with the student body by providing access to a wide, rich set of activities and opportunities.

Your main duties and responsibilities will include, but will not be limited to the following areas:

  • Working with the Student Welfare Engagement Team to ensure a provision of activities which enrich the student experience that take place throughout the academic year.
  • Work collaboratively with the Security team and managers to ensure the security, wellbeing and discipline is maintained, whilst complying to College policies and procedures.
  • Responding to incidents which require management intervention including conflict situations to mitigate further conflict and resolution.
  • Responsible for ensuring students are disciplined accordingly in line with college policy including suspending students and ensuring all appropriate evidence is collected and collated.
  • Conducting investigations when incidents require further exploration alongside Security and relevant faculty.
  • Liaising and advising curriculum teams on student discipline matters to enable consistent, coherent and timely intervention and adherence to disciplinary policy and procedures.
  • Ensuring positive collaboration with curriculum teams, which enable consistent, coherent and timely intervention and adherence to the disciplinary policy and procedures.
  • Keeping accurate, consistent and timely records of all incidents.
  • Support the Head of Welfare and Engagement with Student Union and Class Reps, including recruitment, ensuring that the student voice is part of decision making.
  • Providing ongoing development and monitoring of the Student Involvement Strategy to enable improvement to be measured and reported on.
  • Contribute to the planning and promotion of a full enrichment programme for students to ensure there is a robust provision of activities and enrichment opportunities for students to participate in.
