    Job Summary:

    August is seeking a talented Backend Developer to join our dynamic Product Team. As a tech-enabled company with a focus on hospitality and real estate, we're in search of a self-driven individual to contribute to the development of our backend systems and internal platforms. This role provides an opportunity to thrive in a growth-stage startup environment, offering the flexibility of both office-based and remote work.

    Roles and Responsibilities:

    • Backend Development: Lead the development of web-apps, backend systems, and databases, ensuring scalability, reliability, security, & performance.
    • API Development: Design and implement APIs to support frontend and internal platform functionalities, ensuring seamless communication between different components.
    • Data Management: Manage databases and data storage solutions, optimising performance and security.
    • System Integration: Integrate third-party services and internal systems to streamline operations and enhance user experiences.
    • Technical Administration: Oversee the maintenance and optimization of backend infrastructure, including servers, databases, and networking components.
    • Continuous Improvement: Identify areas for improvement in backend processes and systems, proposing and implementing solutions to enhance efficiency and reliability.

    About You:

    • Innovative: Bring fresh ideas to the team, striving to optimise backend performance and processes.
    • Analytical Skills: Demonstrate strong analytical and problem-solving abilities, deriving insights from data to drive backend development decisions.
    • Technical Proficiency: Proficient in backend development technologies such as Java, with experience in designing and implementing APIs.
    • Database Management: Experience with relational and NoSQL databases, proficient in database design, optimization, and management.
    • Experience and Expertise: Possess at least 3 years of relevant experience in backend development, with a bachelor's degree in a technical subject.
    • Team Player: Collaborate effectively within a team environment, fostering positivity and continuous learning.
    • Attention to Detail: Maintain high standards of code quality and system reliability, with a keen eye for detail.
    • Adaptability: Thrive in a fast-growing and scaling business environment, demonstrating flexibility and a willingness to learn.
    • Communication Skills: Exhibit excellent verbal and written communication skills, facilitating positive connections and collaborative work environments.
    • Language Proficiency: Fluent in English for clear communication within the team and with stakeholders.
