**Postdoctoral Research Associate in Physics of Elastic Turbulence

UE07 £37,099 to £44,263 per annum (A revised salary range for this grade of £39,347 to £46,974 is planned to take effect from Spring 2024)

College of Science and Engineering / School of Physics and Astronomy / ICMCS

Fixed term contract - 36 Months
**Full Time - 35 Hours Per Week
We are looking for a post-doctoral researcher to conduct numerical and analytical studies of elastic turbulence.


The Opportunity:


The post is for a post-doctoral researcher in the field of physics of complex fluids at the School of Physics and Astronomy of the University of Edinburgh.


The successful applicant will use analytical and numerical techniques to study the phenomenon of elastic turbulence - chaotic motion exhibited by flows of polymer solutions at negligible inertia.

The position is for 3 years; the successful applicant will be supervised by Prof. Alexander Morozov.

Your skills and attributes for success:

  • A PhD in Physics, Applied Mathematics, or Chemical/Mechanical Engineering
  • A proven track record in fluid dynamics of Newtonian/complex fluids
  • Previous experience with High-Performance Computing will be advantageous Track record in transition to turbulence, coherent structures, dynamical systems and understanding of spectral methods will be advantageous.
