  • We're recruiting a
-
Volunteer & Foster Coordinator for our Rehoming & Fostering Team at our rehoming, advice & behaviour unit in
-
Radcliffe, Greater Manchester

  • We've just launched a new and exciting national Rehoming & Fostering team structure to support our aim of ensuring every pet enjoys a healthy life in a happy home. You'll be joining a team who strive to be the best versions of themselves, so that they can do the best for the pets who need our help.
More about the role

  • Based in our high street location since 2018, we are perfectly placed to support our local community and surrounding areas. Our fosterbased care and Home Direct scheme ensures animals find loving homes without the stress of kennels. This means that we do not usually have pets staying onsite overnight and our roles may not include daily pet care, but no two days are ever the same.
  • Our fostering service is an integral part of the rehoming process, supporting the delivery of our strategy by optimizing our services so that Blue Cross can help more pets. We can only do this with the support of our fantastic volunteers.
  • As a Volunteer & Foster Coordinator, and working as part of a team, you will be raising awareness of the Rehoming Advice & Behaviour Unit and the work we do in the local and surrounding community and recruiting. You will be developing relationships with local civic networks and volunteering channels, local communities, and partners, promoting the benefits of volunteering, and fostering to provide more targeted support. As a result, you will be able to recruit and support a diverse team of volunteers to enhance the smooth running of the rehoming and fostering services.
  • Working closely with the Centre Managers, Assistant Managers and Adoptions Coordinators, you will ensure that our volunteers are fully integrated into the team, ensuring that the team welcome and collaborate with these wonderful people.
  • While following a robust rehoming service is important to us, so is the volunteering and fostering experience.
  • You will be ensuring every interaction our volunteers and fosterers have with us at Blue Cross is exceptional. Supporting them with opportunities to develop their skills and knowledge, helping them to provide the safe and nurturing environment every pet needs whilst waiting for their permanent home and in crisis care.
  • This role is part time of 15 hours over two days, working on Mondays and Tuesdays each week.About you
  • You will be an excellent communicator with strong interpersonal skills and the ability to actively promote to a range of external stakeholders the work of Blue Cross and the benefits of volunteering.
  • With the ability to work collaboratively and effectively with people at all levels, you will have a passion for ensuring that volunteers have the right opportunities to thrive in their roles.
  • You will be organised, flexible and analytical in the way you work, and you will enjoy working to targets and managing a diverse team of volunteers and fosterers. With an approachable and supportive manner, you will be able to offer guidance and advice, and will have the confidence to deal with volunteer situations should they arise and be able to offer pragmatic solutions.
  • You will know what it is like to work in an emotionally charged environment and have excellent 'bounce back ability' and resilience. In addition, you will be emotionally intelligent, showing empathy and knowing how to support volunteers and your colleagues.
