    We are looking for a Commercial Manager to manage the company's bulk spirits portfolio. The Commercial Manager is a senior member of management and will oversee areas of company performance affecting cost, policy, procedure and strategy.

    These areas include contract negotiation, project planning, employee performance and managing of any risks identified by the company.

    The purpose of the role is to increase the company's sales and profit margins by ensuring the company operates sound business procedures and can sell products to as many customers as possible at the right price.

    Job Specification

    • Commercial Manager
    • Reporting to the company Directors
    • This is a collaborative role with the aim of principally supporting the buying and selling function of the business
    • Management of the sales team
    • Dealing with all spirit buying and providing the sales staff with their bulk spirits requirements
    • Buying Scotch whisky for the company's premium whisky ranges
    • Managing the total cask inventory portfolio
    • Purchasing Scotch whisky & other spirits on behalf of the company
    • Working closely with the company's finance team to ensure all pricing is correct and satisfactory
    • Developing systems & processes to ensure an efficient operation
    • Room for growing the team
    • Trend analysis with support from the finance team
    • Support senior sales staff with existing trade clients
    • Support Account Managers on an extensive database of prospect clients in addition to incoming leads
    • Monthly meeting with the Senior Management team, reporting on bulk purchasing and sales figures for the month
    • Monthly sales targets (specifically Gross Profit) to be met
    • Attend out-of-hours events including trade shows, tastings, promotional evenings.
    • The role may involve foreign travel (at company expense with allowance for subsistence)
    • Ensure stock list updated once sale agreed and invoiced
    • Training – formal/informal
    • Research and stay abreast of developments in the Scotch Whisky industry

    Person Specification

    • Experience in the whisky/spirits industry is essential.
    • Proven track record in buying and selling bulk Scotch whisky.
    • Degree level accountancy or financial qualifications
    • Good network within Scotch whisky industry
    • Good network of industry suppliers & trade customers
    • Strong analytical skills
    • Understanding of market dynamics
    • Able to build strong relationships with team members and suppliers.
