Job summary:
Play a key role in the operation of the GB energy market
We are recruiting for two roles within our Industry Codes & Licensing team; Head of Industry Codes and Head of Code Governance.
Government and Ofgem have recently set out a significant package of reforms to the industry codes framework which underpins the operation of the GB energy market.
These reforms will be key to ensuring that the energy industry codes can respond to the rapidly changing sector, enabling change to be delivered more efficiently and effectively in the interests of consumers, and facilitate the transition toward net zero.
At Ofgem you'll have the opportunity to work flexibly across Ofgem on a range of projects or may have a longer deployment within a team where you have in-demand specialist skills, knowledge, and expertise.
This role sits within the Policy & Strategy profession and the initial deployment will be in the Enforcement & Emerging Issues Directorate.
You'll take on a varied and challenging workload including creating innovative solutions to address emerging policy issues or challenges, ensuring appropriate project management and governance structures are in place and demonstrating effective diversity and inclusive team management.
In the Code Governance Reform focussed role you will plan and deliver the joint work programme with BEIS to support legislative change, and manage the strategic vision of the code governannce reform team.
In the Industry Codes role you will be responsible for the effective operation and mainteance of indsutry codes day-to-day code governance, including "dual key" sign off on code modifications.

We are recruiting two roles that are both initially deployed deployed in the Enforcement & Emerging Issues (E&EI) Directorate.E&EI covers a range of core regulatory areas including market entry, oversight of industry codes, enforcement, cross cutting strategic change projects and promotion and protection of integrity and transparency in the wholesale gas and electricity markets.
The Directorate comprises three portfolios:
Industry Rules, Enforcement and Wholesale Market Oversight & International.
Longer-term, you will have the opportunity to work flexibly across Ofgem on a range of projects.
The first role is a
Head of Code Governance Reform with the insight, experience, and skills to lead the implementation of this major Ofgem project.
You will manage a multi-disciplinary team to plan, oversee and deliver a joint programme of work with BEIS to support delivery of code governance reform.
The role requires effective collaboration with multiple teams and Directorates across Ofgem to manage interdependencies, risks, and emerging policy issues.
The work will be varied and will involve regular engagement with a wide variety of internal and external stakeholdersThe second role is a
Head of Industry Codes. You will manage a multi-disciplinary team to plan, oversee and deliver our code governance function effectively.
