    Job title : Media Services Technician

    Contract type: Permanent

    Salary: Grade 4, total remuneration range £34,480 - £43,494 (depending on skills and experience). Appointments for this role will likely be made at the beginning of the band. Please note, the remuneration is inclusive of a base salary plus market forces premium (MFP) of £5,000

    Working arrangements: Full-time, 40-hours per week. Standard working hours between 08.30 – 17.30, Monday to Saturday. Some overtime and anti-social working will be required to support events.

    The Royal College of Physicians (RCP) is recruiting a Media Services Technician to join our technical team at our London site in Regent's Park.

    RCP Events is 4-star events venue creating extraordinary event experiences. Our venue hosts a diverse range of events, from high-profile corporate and medical conferences to luxurious evening events.

    Role Overview:

    The audio-visual, technical and media services (AVTMS) Media Technician role is an equally demanding and rewarding role that underpins the whole service delivery strategy for AVTMS within the RCP.

    You will be expected to use your expert technical expertise to deliver high quality video, live streamed webinars for RCP stakeholders and commercial events clients. Applicants with additional skills in animation and photography are welcomed. You will ensure that all stored content is has the correct metadata tags, is archived safely, and managed to RCP Digital Strategy standards.

    Responsibilities:

  • The planning and successful technical delivery of video, streaming and photography projects for both internal and external customers.
  • Monitoring activity and improving processes to ensure that all AV technicians correctly operate, store and maintain capture equipment and platforms to standards designed to ensure effective use and longevity.
  • Contributing ideas that improve what the team does and offers new opportunity for revenue generation.
  • Portraying the RCP as a positive and customer organisation at all times.
  • Any other duties as may be reasonably expected and which are commensurate with the level of the post, adhere and comply with the provisions of the RCP's health and safety policy, undertake all duties and responsibilities in compliance with the rules and regulations encompassing equal opportunities.
  • Contribute to the work of the Department and wider RCP activities.
  • Qualifications:

  • Experience as a media technician in the live events industry or similar.
  • In-depth knowledge of video equipment, cameras, and production software.
  • Strong knowledge of associated AV technology, audio, lighting etc.
  • Excellent organisational skills and an ability to work to tight deadlines.
  • Strong problem-solving abilities and the capacity to make informed decisions under pressure.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to interact with clients and team members effectively.
  • Flexibility to work evenings and weekends as required by event schedules.
  • Relevant certifications in media production or audio-visual technology are highly desirable.
