    We are excited to announce a fantastic new opportunity for an experienced Import and Export Manager on a permanent basis in Bristol. In this role, you will be responsible for overseeing all aspects of export and shipping and serve as the primary point of contact for exporting goods outside of the UK. Your tasks will include reviewing customer contracts, ensuring that all relevant documents are received, and validating them.

    Key Responsibilities:

    • Review the shipping aspect of orders and manage/request all related paperwork, including Letters of Credit (LCs) and all Export Documentation.
    • Support and train direct reports in the export procedures to ensure the business complies with current legislation.
    • Add/ maintain all shipping information within the System Information Database and Folder (SID).
    • Prepare all shipping documents (commercial invoices, EUR1, ATR1 & Certificate of Origin) to enable us to ship the system as per the customer's requirement date.
    • Prepare the bank presentation documents (Packing List, Drafts, AWB & others) required from the customers' LC and send them off for collection.
    • Work with our customers and our own Freight Forwarder to plan the delivery of the goods in a timely fashion.
    • Ensure our forwarders are managed and reviewed to ensure we are always getting the best service at the most cost-effective rate.
    • Work as business internal reference for the update and revision of all export and shipping regulations (such as Incoterms and Custom Clearance).
    • Maintain relevant departmental Business Management System (BMS) flowcharts and procedures, Work Instructions (WI) and Quality Control Forms (QCFs).
    • Report relevant departmental, Internal supplier & external supplier Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) on monthly basis.
    • Manage the export control and compliance of all controlled movements out of the company. This covers applying for all export licences, managing the use of the companies open licences and ensuring accurate logs are kept of all transfers for audit by the Export Compliance Office (ECO).

    Education/Qualifications:

    • Relevant experience in a high technology and capital equipment business.
    • Working experience in shipping, Letters of Credit and Export (especially to China) is essential.
    • A good working knowledge of UK & EU Export Control legislation as well as awareness of US EAR & ITAR regulations.
    • Experience in applying for export licences through the SPIRE system.
    • Knowledge of shipping aspects of orders that impact the business
    • Experience of working in a role closely linked to the customer would be useful.
    • A good general education, good knowledge of widely used software packages (MS Office, Web based applications, etc.)
    • Experience in team management.
    • Relevant qualifications such as ACIT or DIT desirable but not essential.

    ProffesionalSkills/Abilities:

    • Structured approach to Problem solving.
    • A customer focussed approach to delivering excellent service and improved accuracy.
    • Time management skills.
    • Experience of shipping internationally, especially in China and Russia and dealing with LC. Also, previous experience in an administrative role in a high-technology environment is preferred.
    • Experience in managing freight forwarders and conducting regular reviews.
