We have an exciting opportunity for a Healthcare Assistant to join the Nottingham Clinical Genetics team.

You must be able to work flexibly between Monday to Friday and between the hours of 7.45am - 5pm.


You will assist the Clinical Genetics service with running and maintaining outpatient clinics at Nottingham City Hospital with a range of chaperone, infection control and related duties.

NUH is also the host for the NationalPaediatric Ataxia-Telangiectasia (A-T) Clinic which is held every 3 to 4 weeks.

A-T is a multi-system, life-limiting genetic condition and the clinic provides a multidisciplinary environment for the families who come from all over the UK and Southern Ireland.

There are many duties around preparing for each clinic as well as assuring the smooth running and positive patient experience at these clinics.


In addition, you will provide support to the administrativeteam and therefore for this role you will need basic understanding and some experience with MS Office and use of computers.

Training will be provided on hospital systems.

Main general duties

Clean the clinical environment in line with Infection Control standards

Act as a chaperone when required (where patients may undergo examinations)

Monitor and re-order clinic supplies and ensure clinic rooms stock is replenished efficiently.


You will also provide comprehensive Healthcare Assistant cover to the A-T clinic, which involves working closely with the other members of the multidisciplinary team, particularly with the Lead Clinician and Lead A-T Nurse who are based within Genetics.

It is a very varied role and requires someone with initiative and the ability to work independently. There are many duties around preparing around each clinic as well as assuring the smooth running of the clinics.

Provide administrative support to the wider administration team, for example; filing, photocopying, ordering and tracking notes.

Clinical Genetic Service


The Clinical Genetic Service is provided to the East Midlands, providing outreach clinics in Nottinghamshire, Derbyshire and Lincolnshire serving a total population of around 2.3 million, in which there are approximately 20,000 births per year.

The Clinical Genetic Service is located at the City Hospital campus.

The team consists of consultants, SpRs and genomic counsellors who have their own independent caseload as well as supporting the work of consultant staff.
