    Job Description

    Residential Building Surveyor

Harewood Independent Surveyors is an established surveying practice specialising in Residential Home Surveys and Building Defect Diagnosis. We are looking for a Building Surveyor to provide Residential Home Surveys across Hampshire, Wiltshire, and Berkshire. Using our bespoke survey reports and tailored survey software, you will provide pre-purchase guidance to private clients with no valuation work involved.

We provide home surveys involving all types of property, from small apartments to large country estates. This includes both modern properties and historic, listed buildings so we require someone with a sound understanding of construction technology, including traditional building practice.

This is a full-time role for a Residential Building Surveyor responsible for providing pre-purchase Building Surveys (L3) and HomeBuyer Reports (L2). Specific defect reports and general building surveying tasks will also be required from time to time, creating a varied and exciting job role.

Our focus on producing a high-quality service to clients means all surveyors are allocated adequate inspection and reporting time. Low volume, high quality work.

The ideal candidate will have the following qualifications, skills and technical competencies:

    • Must have at least 3 years post-qualification experience.
    • Must be an RICS member (AssocRICS, MRICS, FRICS).
    • Can demonstrate experience and knowledge of RICS L2 & L3 Home Surveys.
    • Can demonstrate strong building pathology knowledge.
    • Can demonstrate a good understanding of traditional building construction.
    • Be able to complete detailed, quality reports to company standards.
    • Experience with Go-Report software is advantageous (training provided).
    • Be proficient with IT.
    • Demonstrate excellent client care and communication skills.
    • Have good time management skills.
    • Be friendly & personable to provide clients with clear information and professional guidance.
    • Full UK driving licence and vehicle.

This is a home-based role with team catch-up meetings and training via zoom and at our office, based in Andover. The survey areas will predominantly be Hampshire, Wiltshire and Berkshire, with occasional requirements outside of this zone. Most of our work is within a 50-mile radius of Andover, Hampshire.

Salary – £50-60k per annum depending on experience
