Full time - Community Pain APP or Split role Community Pain APP / MSK CAT

An exciting opportunity has arisen to join Whittington Health to build & develop a community Pain service in Haringey. Pain MDT will include Consultant, Psychology, Physiotherapy, specialist service manager & administrative staff. To provide holistic care in MDT-led team to treat persistent pain in community setting aligning using evidence-based clinical guidance.

  • Refer a friend scheme: both referrer & external new starter receive £250 after 3 months & a further £250 each after the new starter has been in post for 1 year


The Community Pain APP post will be supervised by a Pain consultant in an integrated care model with North Middlesex University Hospital.

Our consultant time is allocated to attend weekly Pain MDT, supervise APP's & complete problem joint patient clinics.


The MSK CATS service is run by Advanced Physiotherapy Practitioner's (APP) managing complex MSK patients across a variety of community sites across Haringey & Islington.

The CATS service benefits from close working links with Physiotherapy, Orthopaedic, Rheumatology and Pain services, local GPs & commissioners.

The post holder will manage a caseload of complex MSK Persistent Pain presentations from triage to discharge in line with current best practice.

The role will include assessment, request and review of diagnostics. Appropriate onward referral to secondary care services and potential provision of joint and soft tissue corticosteroid injections (MSK CATS).


The post holder will act as a clinical MSK expert for the MSK Physiotherapy service as well as supervise senior MSK Physiotherapy clinicians.

The in-service training, appraisal and personal development programmes are well established for all staff and all departments provide a friendly working environment with supportive and experienced clinicians.


You will need to have a caring and mature attitude to work closely with patients and with staff in our department.

The focus of this role is on high quality MSK care for the Community Services.
