    Sustainability Recruitment are excited to be exclusively working with a large online clothing retailer in the recruitment of a Sustainability Manager.

    Reporting to the General Counsel and Company Secretary, the successful candidate will lead, develop and deliver the ESG (Environmental, Social & Governance) strategy for the company ensuring it meets with business requirements as well as legal and regulatory requirements. This role will have a particular focus on developing and overseeing the implementation of the environmental element of our overall sustainability objectives.

    Working closely with key stakeholders across the business, you will be responsible for the day to day cross functional coordination of the strategy and reporting against it, ensuring the key stakeholders take accountability for their area and that our strategy is embedded across the business.

    Location: Currently their head office is based in Leominster, Herefordshire. However, they are shortly moving to a brand new, high quality offices in Hereford town centre in the next few months.

    Hours: General office hours are between Monday and Friday on a hybrid basis, working 3 days per week at head office.

    Main Responsibilities:


    • Leading in defining, achieving and promoting environmental and sustainability objectives working with key stakeholders in contributing areas such as Operations, Buying and HR


    • Managing all environmental and sustainability legal and regulatory reporting requirements, including European reporting requirements where applicable


    • Compiling, managing and maintaining all environmental and sustainability related documentation and processes


    • Overseeing the implementation of and management of environmental management systems


    • Providing expert advice and guidance on all relevant sustainability matters


    • Monitoring and reviewing the successful implementation of the ESG strategy across all locations and departments of the business, driving continuous improvement where required but with a particular focus on the environmental element of the strategy


    • Identifying and implementing reporting tools to provide a clear indication of performance against agreed KPIs, providing regular reporting to the Board and other stakeholders on delivery of the strategy and agreed KPIs


    • Working with key stakeholders across the business to motivate and engage employees on ESG matters including training needs and developing and rolling out training programmes


    • Establishing and maintaining strong internal and external stakeholders relationships, including being the key point of contact for environmental and sustainability matters


    • Having a good understanding of environmental and sustainability laws and regulations and keep abreast of developments and policy in relation to such matters


    • Being responsible for communicating incoming compliance/legislation and coordinating reporting requirements.

    About You

    Skills & Knowledge Required:


    • Relevant environmental/sustainability-related qualification is essential


    • Proven experience in an environmental and sustainability role is essential. Relevant sector experience is desirable


    • A sound understanding of environmental laws and regulations in the UK and Europe


    • Experience of working with environmental management systems


    • Experience of developing/improving social impact would be helpful


    • Strong attention to detail


    • Experience of delivering effective change management, proven record of developing and defining strategy and policies and excellent relationship management skills


    • Strong analytical skills to assess and interpret complex data


    • Strategic, creative and curious thinker


    • Excellent communication, interpersonal and organisational skills, with the ability to analyse, question and problem solve.

    Salary: Between £50-£70k for depending on experience
