Band 5 Anaesthetic ODP at Ysbyty Glan Clwyd

We need highly motivated and suitably qualified ODPs to fill available positions in Anaesthetics.


Ysbyty Glan Clwyd is a busy hospital located in the beautiful county of Denbighshire, with immediate access to the main route in and out of North Wales (A55) providing excellent links to the Snowdonia National Park and the Llyn Peninsula.


It has a brand new, fully refurbished, and modern Theatre Suite comprising of 12 operating theatres covering a variety of surgical specialties including Colo-rectal (including laparoscopic surgery), major Head & Neck (ENT & Max Fax) Urology, Gynae, Obstetric, Vascular, Orthopaedic (trauma & elective), Breast and Emergency surgery.


All new starters will be supported via the preceptorship programme that is available within the department and all practitioners are encouraged to participate in the training and development of students and also to enable their own personal development.

The post holder is responsible for the assessment, planning, implementation and evaluation of evidence-based patient care. Clinical expertise is utilised during all phases of the peri-operative period. Skilled assistance is provided in the anaesthetic, surgical and the post operative care of the patient. These skills are also employed in other satellite areas e.g.

A&E Resus, X-Ray, Obstetrics, Ophthalmology, MRI, ECT, Community Dentals and any ward requiring anaesthetic intervention, providing complete 24hr emergency cover for which the post-holder carries a bleep.


The post will include a variety of shifts including late, weekend night shifts and a contribution to the on-call rota.


The post holder will work collaboratively and co-operatively with other members of the multi-disciplinary team, meeting the needs of the patient whilst under no direct supervision.

Assist in the management and organisation of clinical and satellite areas, implementing improvements to working practices as identified by audit/clinical trials.

Participate in the education and development of other staff members.


The post holder will have the opportunity and will be encouraged and supported to utilise their clinical skills during the anaesthetic, surgical (scrub and circulating duties) and post anaesthetic care phases of the peri-operative period.

The ability to speak Welsh is desirable for this post; English and/or Welsh speakers are equally welcome to apply.
