The biggest legislative changes in Companies House history have been set out by the UK Government via The Economic Crime and Corporate Transparency Act. The changes will ensure the register is more reliable and accurate, increases corporate transparency and helps tackle fraud and money laundering.

    This is a fantastic opportunity to work in an exciting and varied role. As a Policy Coordinator in the Accounts & Reporting team, you will�be part of the team responsible for the delivery of all Companies Act related policy changes for accounts. You will be supporting the team as they develop the secondary legislation that will enable the new clauses and support its implementation, working closely with our stakeholders and partners.

    You will be handling a variety of high-level correspondence from within the business and externally. You will be considering and recommending evidence-based decisions on Level 4, Late Filing Penalty (LFP) appeals, on behalf of the Registrar. �The role is high profile, and you will engage directly with policy leads, senior managers and business areas across Companies House, and other Government departments. The role involves investigating regulations and law to provide advice on complex queries.

    Job description

    As a Policy Coordinator, you will:

  • Manage the flow of correspondence and ensure our responses to official correspondence, are on time and drafted to a high standard.
  • Draft responses, adapting approved lines to suit the audience, and coordinate responses drafted by others.
  • Work to tight deadlines and ensure high-quality responses are drafted and sent on time.
  • Proof-read drafts.
  • You�ll also be engaging directly with the Head of Policy and the Director of Strategy, Policy, and External Communications and with the Registrars who are the final appeal stage for late filing penalties.
  • You will handle enquiries sent directly to the Chief Executive.
  • Investigate complex queries, by scrutinizing legislation and Law.
  • Research relevant topics to aid policy development.
  • Perform Ad-hoc admin duties to support the team such as managing workflow, facilitating meetings/ workshops, and maintaining knowledge repository and standard lines and templates.
  • Closely follow agreed processes and seek continuous improvement.
  • Support the team in participating in project work.
  • Seek to understand the political landscape, government priorities and the changing role for Companies House.

    Alongside your salary of �25,613, Companies House contributes �6,914 towards you being a member of the Civil Service Defined Benefit Pension scheme.

    Please note that the minimum salary does not reflect the 2023/24 pay deal and we are therefore expecting this to increase in the near future.
