    Customs Clerk

    L: Peterlee / Hybrid Min 3 days in the office
    Salary: £16.84 p/h PAYE / £19.29 Rolled up holiday / £22.62 Umbrella (inside IR35)
    12 Month contract with possibility of extension / Monday to Friday 07:30 - 16:00

    The role: You will be providing customs clearance instructions to brokers, deal with import / export compliance and liaise with customs ports, ensuring documents are trade compliant. You will have the opportunity to take ownership of the HMRC Duty process and customs duty rates.

    Duties and responsibilities:

    • Import and export customs clearance
    • Responsibilities include:
    • Import/Export Compliance
    • Clearance Instructions
    • Dealing with customs ports
    • Checking Documentation is Trade Compliant
    • HMRC compliance
    • Reconcile MSS
    • Month end duties and reconciliations
    • VAT/Trade testing
    • Supplier origin statements
    • Data management for commodity codes

    Skills and experience:

    • Import / Export Customs compliance experience.
    • Accuracy and attention to detail
    • Effective communication and presentation skills
    • Managing multiple priorities
    • Relationship management with 3rd party service providers, HMRC, Technical Tax & Trade Central team, various business teams and support services (such as IT)
