    The North Midlands and Black Country Procurement Group (NMBC) is comprised of The University Hospitals of North Midlands NHS Trust (UHNM), The Royal Wolverhampton NHS Trust (RWT) and Walsall NHS Trust (WHT), The Black Country Pathology Services (BCPS), North Staffordshire Combined Healthcare NHS Trust (NSCHT), The Midlands Partnership NHS Foundation Trust (MPFT) and Midlands and Lancashire Commissioning Support Unit (MLCSU). The NMBC is responsible for the Strategic and Operational Procurement for UHNM (Royal Stoke University and County Hospitals), RWT (New Cross and Cannock Hospitals), WHT (Walsall Manor Hospital) and 36 partner NHS organisations. The NMBC is responsible for the management and control of expenditure in excess of 600 million across the Midlands and Black Country health economies.

    This post sits in the Strategic Procurement team and is primarily based at the County Hospital site near Stafford, reporting to the Senior Strategic Procurement Manager. The role is directly responsible for a portfolio of contracts and also for managing, supporting and guiding the work of 2 members of staff in one of the Strategic Procurement teams based at the Royal Stoke site, each with their own contract portfolios. Therefore , primarily the team will be remotely managed, however regular attendance at the Royal Stoke site will be ideal.

    Main duties of the job We do operate under a flexible working policy and also offer partial working from home (2 days per week) as part of the role. The band 7 position offers a salary of 43,742 (rising to 45,996 after 2 years experience and 50,056 after a further 3 years) is under the new, reviewed Agenda for Change pay scales for 2023/24.

    The Trust offers 27 days annual leave on appointment, rising to 29 days after 5 years' of service and 33 days after 10 years' of service. In addition, there is also the potential to accrue hours towards flexi-leave in accordance with the flexible working policy.

    The Strategic Procurement Manager will be a vital member of the NMBC Senior Management team, managing a team of 2 staff responsible for the procurement of Medical Division and Non - Medical (Primarily Estates & Facilities) contracts for the University Hospitals of North Midlands NHS Trust, reporting in to the Senior Strategy Procurement Manager - Special Projects.

    This post is a demanding role and an integral in supporting the Department in the delivery of all strategic objectives of all Trusts represented. Support the Departments' national / regional obligations and the implementation of the local Procurement strategy to meet the needs of the host Trust's customer base requirements, maximize value for money, minimising operational / commercial risk whilst ensuring compliance with EU Procurement Legislation, UK Law and the Trust's Standing Financial Instructions.
