Permanent ESOL - Sessional Tutors
Applicants are advised that we have a particular need for the following:


  • Evening tutors at our centres in Market Harborough and Loughborough:

Daytime tutors at our centre in Loughborough, Market Harborough, Melton Mowbray and Hinckley.
We provide generous remuneration with rates from £28.22 for each teaching hour delivered. Inclusive of planning, preparation and CPD with annual incremental progression.

The curriculum team provide learning opportunities to help learners to be able to live in and contribute to a community and to find appropriate employment and enabling them to take a greater part in life in the UK.


Essential Requirements;

  • Recent experience of teaching ESOL at a variety of levels, preferably to adults
  • Have Level 2 maths, English and Level 2 ICT or equivalent skills.
  • Flexibility to travel to different centres around the county during the daytime or in the evening as required.
  • Ability to use relevant teaching materials and techniques to support learning, including the use of elearning technology and use of different educational platforms.

Please note:

In your role as tutor, you would be expected to carry out initial and formative assessment, including online methods, to identify levels and learning goals and complete learner records of progress throughout the course.

Also, you will be required to complete mandatory training on appointment. In addition, in line with our duties to protect learners safeguarding and Prevent duty, training will be required. We are a dispersed service and have three whole service CPD events across the year. These run-on Saturdays and attendance is expected.

An enhanced DBS check is required for this post.


About You

  • To prepare scheme of work to include course learning outcomes, assessment and evaluation methods and resource requirements
  • Inspire, motivate and raise aspirations of learners through your enthusiasm and knowledge
  • To provide an effective induction for learners both to the centre and the requirements of the course
  • Create an environment where learners can reach their full potential and teaching and learning is outstanding
  • To provide information, advice and guidance to learners including appropriate referral for Learning Support or Skills for Life (Maths, English and ICT)
  • To enable learners to share responsibility for their own learning and assessment, setting goals that stretch and challenge, negotiating individual learning outcomes and content as appropriate
  • To plan and deliver effective learning programmes for diverse groups or individuals in a safe and inclusive environment
