Public Affairs and Policy Lead


We are looking for a Public Affairs and Policy Lead to join the team in this rewarding role offering flexible and hybrid working.


Position:
Public Affairs and Policy Lead


Location:
London/hybrid (The job is based at the office in London but will involve frequent travel within the network)


Salary:
£45,000 - £55,000 (dependent upon experience)


Hours:
Full-time (37.5 hours/week with flexible working available)


Contract:
Permanent

About the Role


The Public Affairs and Policy Lead will build the charity and the youth sector's profile within national Government to influence policy and funding decisions, by developing strong relationships with key stakeholders, drawing on the life-changing impact that Youth Zones have on young people.

You will work alongside the CEO, Director of Communication and Brand, and Senior Volunteers to develop and deliver an effective policy and public affairs strategy in order to make the strongest possible case for Youth Zone and youth work with Government.

You will enable young people from across the Youth Zone network to have a voice at a national level.


As Public Affairs and Policy Lead you will ensure key figures in the Network of Youth Zones are fully briefed on policy matters and government priorities.

You will play a crucial role in developing the role of the charity's Network in influencing policy and service design, guiding the network of Youth Zones to take advantage of emerging opportunities.

About You


You will have a proven track record in policy and public affairs with experience and ability to work in an autonomous fashion, taking a leading role in advising the organisation.


You will also have experience of:

  • Engaging directly with government and policy makers
  • Writing policy papers on complex issues to a wide range of audiences
  • Promoting an organisation within a sector
