About the role:

We are looking for a Underwriter to join our Birmingham based team.

Key responsibilities:

Develop, negotiate and profitably underwrite existing business within own authority and in line with Ecclesiastical strategy
Support Senior Underwriters on Key Accounts.
Plan, prioritise and manage individual own work to deliver agreed objectives and meet SLAs to deliver exceptional customer service.
Use the appropriate method of communication (telephone, face to face) to support Ecclesiastical's right first time approach in order to maintain successful Internal and External relationships.
Act on individual audit results and agreed action plans within agreed deadlines to improve own performance
Understand and operate within regulatory framework and identify and escalate any risks to the business.
Identify complaints and act upon them in line with company policy.
Actively expand personal technical and niche knowledge both informally (networking internally and externally, internet, industry press) and formally (Inhouse training, CII, CPD)
Supporting other members of staff in times of need by offering help and support.

Knowledge, skills and experience:

Ability to adapt to and embrace change in a growing company
Ability to manage and prioritise workloads to a high standard and work well under pressure
Ability to use Excel to an intermediate level
A high level of attention to detail
Professional and confident verbal and written communication skills
A proven ability to deliver exceptional customer service
Experience within the insurance industry is essential, previous exposure to and understanding of Underwriting either within an MGA, Broker or Insurer.
Willingness to attend Broker/client meetings and events whilst promoting our appetite and brand.
Have a real "team player" mentality and lead by example
