Centre for Warmth Officer


Responsible to:
Welfare Services Lead

Hours: 35 hours per week


Purpose of the Job:


You will provide information and guidance to residents with regards to energy efficiency, fuel poverty, prevention of carbon monoxide poisoning & process to be included within the Cadent Priority Services Register (PSR).

This will involve arranging home visits, scheduled appointments and follow-up as and when required, to ensure the clients are supported with Centre of Warmth information and supplies/equipment as needed, within the agreed budgets.


Additionally, to ensure that health and safety is effectively managed within the Charity in accordance with the Charity's Health and Safety Policy.


Also, to provide additional administration support duties as and when needed to ensure the provision of high quality Welfare Services that deliver the organisation's strategic objectives.


Specific Centre of Warmth Officer Duties and Responsibilities:
a)


Coordinate and oversee the successful implementation of the Centre of Warmth project to meet key performance indicators agreed in the service level agreement.

b)


Conduct home visits, follow up appointments and scheduled appointments with residents to review energy efficiency, fuel poverty, prevention of carbon monoxide poisoning related issues they have, their current energy usage, tariffs etc.

and to advise on government support, eligibility for grants and energy saving measures that are applicable for the client's home.


Home visits will include the following:
i.

review of existing utilities (gas, electric, water)

ii.

consider any relevant electricity/energy discounts

iii.

review radiator controls/settings/timers

iv.

review lighting and use of low energy bulbs, draft proofing, reflective radiator panels, water saving devices etc., etc.

v.

discussion re Smart Meters use

vi.

discussion re carbon monoxide awareness

vii.

talk about slow cooker benefits

viii.

income maximization

ix.

conversations on PSR and sign ups where applicable

x.

review next steps & provide a written report confirming all actions taken

xi.

book follow-up visit (6-8w hence) to review advice given and actions taken

c)

Liaise with other agencies for referrals and other user needs

d)

Provide representations at meetings, where required, to external/internal providers

e)

Inform the Lead of the effectiveness of the service and any opportunities arising

f)

Produce accurate prompt reports/monitoring information as required and maintain accurate records and systems

g)

Ensure all administration systems and processes are run in accordance with DABD's policies and procedures and standards

h)

i)

report any financial issues to the Manager that has an impact on the overall budget

j)

Keep up to date with Centre of Warmth/CM awareness updates and knowledge

k)

To maintain casework follow up with clients to ensure completed outcomes as required.

l)

Support the development of new projects/initiatives in this department

m)

Undertake ongoing self-led training/upskilling as required

n)

Comply with the requirements of the Data Protection Act

o)

Comply with DABD's Health & Safety regulations

p)

Carry out all responsibilities and duties in accordance with DABD Equality and Diversity policy

General Administrative


Responsibilities:

a)

Produce accurate prompt reports/monitoring information as required and maintain accurate records and systems

b)

Support the Division in all areas of administration

c)

Support the Division in developing, distributing, and marketing appropriate materials

d)

e)

Support the development on new projects/initiatives in the division

f)

Maintain accurate records and systems and produce prompt reports/monitoring information as required

g)

Ensure all administration systems and processes are run in accordance with DABD's policies and procedures and standards

h)

Schedule appointments and maintain accurate electronic calendars

The above-mentioned duties are neither exclusive nor exhaustive and the post holder may be required to carry out such other duties as may be required by the department lead & Senior Leadership Team


Job Type:
Fixed term contract

Contract length: 12 months


Salary:
£25,000.00 per year

  • Dagenham: reliably commute or plan to relocate before starting work (required)
