The Center for Medical Informatics at the Usher Institute in The University of Edinburgh seeks a postdoctoral researcher with expertise in data science and machine learning to support the use of advanced statistical learning techniques in the recently established UKRI Hub for Metabolic Psychiatry.
The Opportunity:
The researcher will play a vital role in developing and applying advanced machine learning, data science, and statistical methods, such as Mendelian randomisation, latent class analysis, time series analysis, and structural equation modeling at the UKRI Hub for Metabolic Psychiatry. This position requires close collaboration with co-investigators, partners, and collaborators to ensure successful delivery of the Hub's interdisciplinary work and open science platform. The post-holder will engage with researchers across different disciplines at the University of Edinburgh, Kings College London, University of Bristol, University of Exeter, and other key stakeholders.
Your skills and attributes for success:
- PhD (or close to completion) in Computer Science, Statistics, Bioinformatics, Machine Learning, or similar field, or substantial relevant experience.
- Proficiency in data science, with a background in handling and processing diverse, time-sensitive datasets.
- Hands-on experience in applying statistical and machine learning techniques to analyze biological data.
- Proven track record in developing and implementing data curation and sharing platforms.
- Strong programming abilities.
