Merrifield Consultants are delighted to be working with this prestigious Scientific Membership body in recruiting an Equality, Diversity and Inclusion Officer for this fixed term contract position until 22nd December 2023

This is a great opportunity for someone who has experience, knowledge or just a passion around ED&I and it's an exciting time to join the team, with the opportunity to influence and shape new and evolving initiatives.
The role is to support the delivery of the equality, diversity and inclusion (EDI) strategic objectives
through staff and member initiatives, as well as delivery of the organisations action plan for
embedding EDI as an employer. To support the organisational values of being Inclusive,
Objective, Open and Exemplary.

  • The role will involve:
  • Collation and reporting of the four-yearly membership diversity survey, working with internal colleagues
  • Supporting EDI team members with projects
  • Reviewing and leading on internal EDI activities including the evaluation of EDI training and making recommendations on next steps
  • Recognising and highlighting sector good practice for EDI
  • Providing responses to daytoday queries on equality, diversity and inclusion, dealing with a wide range of enquiries including those from senior managers
  • Supporting the collating and reporting of the fouryear membership diversity survey, working with marketing and communications colleagues to design and circulate the report.
  • Support the closure, review and recommendations of a member focused diversity and inclusion pilot
  • Complete an internal review and combining of internal EDI focused actions plan to assess progress and consolidate into a central and accessible location.
  • Lead the monitoring, evaluation and learning of the internal 18month EDI training programme, through the use of surveys, analysis and listening sessions.

Technical and personal skills and behaviours

  • Passionate EDI Officer to help realise the organisations commitment to equality, diversity and inclusion within in everything they do. From the staff they employ, the volunteers and members who join, the communities they
- engage with and partners they work with.

  • Advise colleagues and provide support and administration.
  • Team player the ability to work cooperatively with others to achieve common goals
  • Proactive to think ahead and act to ensure the smooth completion of team / individual aims and objectives
  • Dependable able to complete tasks to high standard and to deadline
  • Organisational skills ability to work with minimum supervision, prioritise workload, and handle multiple tasks
  • Interpersonal skills ability to positively communicate with others; the confidence to listen and understand
  • Communication skills ability to express information clearly and effectively in written and oral form
  • Computer literate good working knowledge of Microsoft Office Experience
  • Experience of writing clear, concise reports for different audiences, including technical report writing
  • Experience of working with a range of stakeholders
  • Ability to communicate effectively to all levels of staff
  • Ability to analyse, identify trends in data, and present these to nonspecialist audiences.
  • A strong commitment to the principles and practice of equality and diversity

Desirable

  • Experience in the planning and delivery of engagement activities.
  • Experience working and delivering in the Equality, Diversity and Inclusion space
  • Experience using Monitoring, Evaluation and Learning framework
