    Civil Design Manager / Senior Civil Engineer

    • Location: NE/NW England
    • Rate: £35 / £42 per hour
    • Duration: 12 months
    • Start date: ASAP / June 2024

    Our client is an international engineering & construction organisation who have strong pipelines in the major renewable energy and power generation sectors, across the UK / Europe and are rapidly expanding.

    Turner Lovell is looking for a Civil Design Manager to lead the Civil & Building design scopes of work on major renewable energy projects, throughout the UK. The role will also involve managing and supporting internal teams (design, commercial & site construction) to deliver the projects, collaboratively.

    This is an excellent opportunity to be at the forefront of renewable energy infrastructure projects, secure stability in a long-term contracting role and work with a world class, international team to deliver complex engineering and construction solutions.

    Duties:

    • To manage and deliver the design scope & process for the civil/building works of multiple infrastructure projects throughout the UK
    • To ensure designs from all teams are technically correct and timely
    • Value Engineering (Constructability, time, cost, quality)
    • To chair design review and clarification meetings, keeping the team informed
    • Draft Scope of Services and Works documentation, design schedules, (hand calculations, spreadsheets, and software knowledge).
    • To act as the point of contact for internal designers, clients, partners, and consultants throughout the project
    • To adapt and manage any change management, assess contractor value proposals and any requirement changes.
    • Identify when design proposals will be subject to Building Regs and ensure the technical solution is included in any proposals.

    Requirements:

    • 5 years of civil / structural design experience, within the UK
    • Experience working on earthworks, Specification for Highway Works, and Fire Design packages
    • Computational frame design software working knowledge (Tedds, STAD-Pro, Masterseries)
    • Knowledge of consenting process (TCPA, DCO, Environmental Licensing, CAR)
    • Chartered Engineer, or equivalent experience
    • Qualification in Civil, Structural, or Architectural Engineering (or any other associated discipline)
