We are recruiting for a Rehabilitation Assistant to join a team working with a man with an acquired brain injury.

The role involves supporting the client with activities of daily living, accessing the community, delivery of personal care and supporting the client with his challenging behaviour.

Employees will work under the instruction of the case manager, staff manager and the multi-disciplinary therapy team.


Job Specification

  • Implementing the care plan, therapy exercises and guidelines.
  • Support the client with accessing a range of social and recreational activities.
  • Drive the client to various venues and appointments, using the client's wheelchair accessible vehicle.
  • Assisting the client with episodes of challenging behaviour.
  • Provide the client with personal care, assistance with personal care, transfers and positional change.
  • Support with solving day to day problems with members of the professional team.
  • Liaise with the case management team and notifying them of any concerns raised by yourself, your team members or the client.
  • Completing shift notes daily.
  • Ensuring completion of training allocated to you within defined timeframes.
  • Advocating for the client, where necessary.
  • Ensuring the client is safe, that his needs are being met and that any concerns he might have are communicated to the management team.
  • Light cleaning of the support worker area and some of the client's equipment (as outlined in the Home Manual).
  • Attendance at team meeting and team training sessions, as organised by the management team.
  • Attendance at monthly supervision meetings (via telephone call) with the Staff Manager.

Essential

  • Full clean driving license (vehicle provided)
  • Clear DBS check
  • A minimum of 2 years' experience working in a care or support setting
  • Experience working with adults with challenging behaviour
  • Experience delivering personal care to adults with additional needs
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to problem solve and work well under pressure
  • 2 professional references

Desirable

  • Experience working with, and/or knowledge of acquired brain injury and the effects on individuals
  • Experience of driving a large automatic vehicle

Rate of Pay
£15.50 ph - weekdays
£16.50 ph - weekends
£18 ph - bank holidays


Hours
The hours would be 20 hours (2 shifts) week 1 and 30 hours (3 shifts) week two. 8am - 6pm.

DBS/Reference checks will be required for this post - Cost to be met by the local authority.
