    Job summary

    An excellent opportunity has arisen for apositive and flexible team player to work in our very busy Diabetic EyeScreening department for Barnsley and Rotherham. The programme offers diabeticeye screening to over 37,000 people with diabetes in the Barnsley and Rotherhamarea.

    We are looking for an individual withexcellent communication skills, computer literate and logical thinking you willbe well motivated and have a patient centred approach to continue and maintainthe reputation of the diabetic eye screening service. The post holder will beundertaking screening clinics and taking retinal photographs across a variationof locations.

    Main duties of the job

    As a Retinal Photographer you will be screening patientsindependently within in clinic. This includes undertaking a visual acuity, instillingeye drops and taking retinal photographs. The Diabetic eye screening servicewill follow national guidance to meet targets and service requirements. Youwill undertake clinics in a various location across Barnsley and Rotherham. Youwill have to have use of your own vehicle for work use.

    The post holder will have to undertake the Health screenerDiploma.

  • Customer care experience
  • Experience of dealing with an unpredictable workload

  • Experience of dealing with a wide range of patients/customers

  • Previous experience in hospital or community setting or previous experience working in other screening departments or Ophthalmology department
  • Experience of working independently
  • Experience of dealing with a wide range of patients/customers with communication barriers
  • An understanding of the implications of cultural difference and disability to service delivery.
