The main responsibilities of the role include: - Ensuring that requests for repeat prescriptions are actioned within 72 hours. This includes checking email requests and involves a rota system to cover the collection and drop off of all prescriptions from each site.
- Responding to all queries and requests from chemists, nursing homes and district nurses, regarding the issue of prescriptions.
- Keeping repeat prescription information up-to-date in the patient journal, such as letters and doctors' requests.
- Sending out review letters.
- Organising blood tests (through ICE system) or blood pressure checks for patients, relevant to their prescribing needs.
- Prescribing Incentive Scheme – issue reports and letters, working around any guidelines issued to ensure budget reductions where possible.
- Medicine management – liaise and discuss any enquires or queries raised by the clinical team.
- General ad hoc administration work.
- Flexibility to cover other areas when required – multi-skill mix.
- Keep up-to-date with all prescribing guidelines and protocols, relevant to the position. About the Candidate
- We are a very busy, friendly and caring practice looking for someone with energy and drive.
- A good knowledge of computers is essential as you will be required to use the GP surgery clinical system which is Systm One on a daily basis.
- You must be a good communicator, able to work on your own initiative and be part of a flexible team.
- Previous administrative or reception experience essential.
- Experience of working within the NHS or within healthcare is preferable.
