Job overview:

Cornwall Partnership NHS Foundation Trust is seeking a consultant in general adult psychiatry to provide clinical leadership to the Restormel Community Mental Health Team.

This replacement community post has become available at an exciting time for community mental health services in Cornwall as we embark on a journey of community mental health transformation.

This developmental aspect of the post will include a greater emphasis on primary care interface working as part of a new 'core model' of mental health care, in addition to the typical CMHT psychiatric work.

This offers the post-holder a stimulating opportunity to influence service development alongside their clinical responsibilities.

Main duties of the job:

This appointment is for a consultant in community general adult psychiatry, covering half of the Restormal CMHT, and is one of a growing number of consultant posts for general adult psychiatry in Cornwall.

The Restormel CMHT, with its two consultant psychiatrists, covers a total population of approximately 97,000.

There is a planned programme of demand and capacity mapping funded by Health Education England (CLEAR - Clinically-Led workforce Activity and Redesign) across community mental health services in Cornwall.

The post-holder will cover surgeries in Newquay, St Stephen, and Roche. Outpatient clinics are primarily held in Newquay and St Austell, as per the indicative timetable. The service is supported by inpatient facilities at both Bodmin Hospital and Longreach Hospital. The post is community based and without in-patient responsibility.

The consultant contributes to clinical leadership within the team but is only medically responsible for individuals that he/she has contact with.

The consultant is not expected to care co-ordinate.
