The post holder will take a lead clinical role in providing high quality evidence based expert practice for cancer patients within the Acute Oncology, MUO/CUP Services.
The aim of the service is to provide better recognition and prompt, appropriate management of acute problems related to either a suspected or confirmed cancer diagnosis or the cancer treatment itself. Team members work with complex patients who present acutely to the service.
The successful candidate will hold a MSC in Advanced Clinical Practice, enabling them to work autonomously and support others in the planning and delivery of care for this patient group.

Main duties of the job
The Macmillan Advanced Practitioner will provide expert knowledge, advice and clinical support to patients, carers and fellow professionals regarding the care and management of patients experiencing complications of cancer and cancer related treatments.

The post holder will lead the Acute Oncology nursing team, and workvery closely with the Clinical Lead and all staff involved in the care of cancer patients; in particular, Oncologists, Acute Medical Assessment Unit, AED and the Cancer & Specialist Palliative Care MDT members. The team liaise closely with both tertiary and primary care partners.

The post holder will take a lead clinical role in providing the high quality evidence based expert practice for cancer patients within the Acute Oncology Service.
Be responsible for the management and seamless running of the AOS, liaising closely with the Lead Clinician.
Provide leadership to support and inspire colleagues to enhance their development in clinical practice.
To exercise a high degree of professional autonomy and make critical judgements using expert knowledge and skills in order to provide the highest standard of holistic patient care across the Acute Oncology Service.
To work collaboratively within the division, across the Trust and externally, to develop and deliver services across organisational, professional and geographical boundaries
To Lead the nursing team for the Acute Oncology Service and ensure the local service meets the requirement of National service specification
