    Job Description

    An exciting opportunity to gain a huge amount of experience on live job(s) at different stages of the build. Working on-site with a focused and supportive team, the candidate will need to be driven and motivated and have a decent level of technical ability. Ideally looking for a graduate from a design-management course with approx. 1-2 years post qualification experience, or alternatively a candidate with 3-5 years experience.

    Under the guidance of the project Design Manager(s) the Assistant Design Manager will be responsible for design and technical aspects of projects, ensuring they are delivered on budget and to programme. This will entail scrutiny of design and technical drawings and information, effective management of external consultants and with the ability to communicate effectively with the wider United Living Team.

    Responsibilities include:

  • Review / Interrogate consultants and sub-contractors' drawings and documentation.
  • Manage and drive external consultants in the preparation and issue of production information to an agreed programme.
  • Along with the Design Manager/ Senior Design Manager develop, control, and manage the project specific Design Programme as part of broader Master Delivery Programmes, and co-ordinate technical information from start to completion of project.
  • Manage and coordinate external consultants in their day-to-day duties related to design, coordination and technical aspects of production information and to ensure delivery within the constraints of time, quality, budget and technical requirements.
  • Oversee document control with regards to registration and distribution of design and technical information
  • Liaise with key personnel within the project team in preparation of project costing and design works.
  • Review tenders as part of the bid team to assess the quality of received information, identify value engineering opportunities, risks, collate consultants cost and prepare contractors proposals.
  • Keep up to date on new and innovative products and modern methods of construction.
