The Role
This role offers a unique remit of both Strategic Purchasing and Project Management.

Project Management:

Representing Purchasing at key project meetings
Collaborating crossfunctionally with Project Engineering
Project coordination, progress tracking, updating costing models
Acting as a conduit and facilitating communication between Strategic Purchasing, Tactical Purchasing/Supply Chain and other key functions
Ensuring adherence to cost targets, focus upon value for money, project milestones, highlighting design changes and areas of risk

Strategic Purchasing
- supporting Strategic Commodity Buyers as required:

Managing day to day supply issues (quality, availability etc.) liaising with and supporting Planning
Developing commodity strategy focusing upon quality, delivery and cost
Global/new supplier sourcing in line with R&D requirements
Managing and monitoring supplier performance, conducting supplier visits and audits/development activities
Supporting and liaising with key internal stakeholders and wider teams to problemsolve and drive process improvements

The Business

Nigel Wright Supply Chain and Procurement Division are working closely with a well established specialist manufacturer to recruit a Strategic Buyer to support significant business growth.

The Individual

Proven strategic procurement track record, ideally from Manufacturing/Engineering sector
Project Management/Project Purchasing experience
Understanding of material flow (i.e. tactical purchasing/planning) essential able to 'hit the ground running'
Previous negotiation experience essential
Excellent stakeholder engagement and influencing skills confident to challenge and represent Purchasing in internal Project meetings
Resilient and adaptable to changing priorities in a fastpaced, dynamic working environment
Proactive, assertive, confident decision maker
Handson, can do attitude willing to get involved in work to support the wider team and Business as a whole
