Teaching Assistant for Key Stage - Specialising in Autism (1:1)

Are you a dedicated and experienced Teaching Assistant looking for a rewarding opportunity to make a positive impact in a primary school environment? Our vibrant school in Newham is seeking a committed individual to join our team and provide invaluable 1:1 support for a non-verbal autistic child in Key Stage 1.

Please note this role will start in September.

Position Overview:

We are currently recruiting a Teaching Assistant to work closely with a non-verbal autistic child, offering specialized 1:1 support within Key Stage 1.

The successful candidate will play a crucial role in implementing the engagement model and closely monitoring progress through various activities and tasks tailored to the child's unique needs.

Responsibilities:

Provide dedicated 1:1 support to an autistic, non-verbal child in Key Stage 1.
Implement and adapt the engagement model to suit the child's individual requirements.
Facilitate the child's participation in classroom activities, ensuring a supportive and inclusive learning environment.
Collaborate with the class teacher and other professionals to create and implement personalised learning plans.
Monitor and assess the child's progress, adjusting strategies as needed to foster development.
Foster positive relationships with the child, promoting a sense of security and trust.

Requirements:

Proven experience as a Teaching Assistant, with a focus on supporting children with autism.
Understanding of the engagement model and experience implementing it effectively.
Strong communication and interpersonal skills to collaborate with teachers, parents, and other professionals.
Patience, empathy, and a genuine passion for supporting the unique needs of non-verbal autistic children.
Ability to adapt teaching methods to cater to individual learning styles.
