    Job overview

Emergency Care at BHRUT is provided in its Emergency Departments (EDs) across two sites, Queen's Hospital Romford and King George Hospital Ilford. Due to their geographical locations, the departments see a broad spectrum of pathologies across both urban and rural settings. Combined patient numbers approach 250,000 and reach in excess of 170,000 type 1 patients per annum.

The larger of the two EDs at Queen's Hospital is comprised of an 8 bay Resuscitation Room and a 25 bay Majors area. The Resus Room has dedicated trauma and stroke bays due to persistent demand. In addition to these areas are Majors B, Paediatric ED and a Rapid Assessment and Treatment Area. King George Hospital has recently undergone a large programme of redevelopment which has seen the resus unit expand from 3 to 6 cubicles, an expanded majors area, and a new Rapid Assessment and Treatment area, as well as an expanded Children's ED and a new Emergency Decision Unit.

The present team of Consultants have a keen interest in further developing the following areas of the department: Trauma, Critical Care, Education, Research and Paediatric Emergency Medicine.
