    Role Definition
    The Sustainability Group offers a wide range of skills to our projects at national, regional, city,
    infrastructure, masterplan, building and product scale. As a Postgraduate with circular economy based experience in both quantitative and qualitative project analysis and advocacy, supply chain
    procurement, construction industry practices and BIM (or similar) you will develop techniques and
    viable, practical, and evidence-based sustainable solutions for project teams. Your work will be
    informed by policy context analysis, Whole Life Impact, Innovative Technologies, sustainable
    materials sourcing, and Integrated Digital Design techniques. You will report to the Leader of the
    Climate Change Team within the Sustainability Group and ultimately to the Head of Sustainability
    Responsibilities


    • Using circular economy and LCA techniques to assess and advise on sustainable design, manufacture, procurement, construction/de-construction and operation of the project
    • To assist in developing a database, and knowledge base of the supply chain to assist Whole Life
    Cycle selection of low impact materials for projects and incorporating resource circularity
    principles where applicable.


    • To apply the database of Whole Life Cycle Impact information, and tools, to the analysis of
    projects.


    • Working with BIM (Revit) software (and plug-ins), to extract quantities for digital analysis and
    contribute to development and visualize the output.


    • Developing numerical analysis using Cost Data, Ecological, and Carbon Footprint and similar
    techniques and software.


    • To conduct research into existing and emerging sustainable policy, trends, procurement and
    technologies.


    • To support in co-ordination of sustainability issues for the internal and/or external design team
    • To manage the use of LEED, BREEAM and similar assessments on projects and produce trend
    analysis to assist other projects.


    • Producing convincing visual outputs and reports to explain and advocate sustainable design
    direction and respond to design deliverable


    • To organise information in a logical way to communicate effectively to design teams, suppliers
    and contractors.


    • To seek, and record evidence of, continuing professional development (CPD) in accordance with
    the requirements of a relevant professional Institution


    • To have thorough knowledge of and compliance with Foster + Partners procedures and
    standards


    • To contribute, or otherwise assist, as required

    Qualities & skills required
    Essential


    • Able to demonstrate ability to undertake the above responsibilities
    • Legally able to work in the country in which the position is based
    • Understanding of Circular Economy principles and techniques DSS20 Dec 2023
    • Understanding of Whole Life Impact and Lifecycle Value appraisal to projects
    • Understanding how to develop critical relationships (technical and organizational) along the
    supply chain


    • Familiarity with RICS and other industry Methods of Measurement
    • Basic understanding of international climate policy; including but not limited to the Paris Climate
    Agreement and the UN Sustainable Development Goals


    • Understanding of BIM (Revit) and using it to construct and quantify projects and assist in
    complex integration of systems


    • Ability to communicate complex technical information in a non-technical manner
    • Being inventive, resourceful, pro-active and enthusiastic about sustainability in design
    • Able to manage sensitive and confidential information
    • Excellent organisational skills
    • Self-motivated and able to take responsibility
    • Able to demonstrate initiative and a proactive approach to daily tasks

    • Qualified to Master's Degree level in relevant subject areas

    Desirable


    • LEED AP within 6 months of commencement
    • Ability to use InDesign, Illustrator, PowerBI packages (or similar)
