Temporary Accounts Payable Administrator

Up to £12.42 per hour PAYE depending on experience


Role Length:
This opening assignment is for 1-2 months


Hybrid role An Accounts Payable Administrator is required to join the shared services function for the provision of accounts payable services. Full training will be provided.


Key responsibilities:

  • Receive scanned images of vendor invoices.
  • Assist vendors in ensuring the correct data is held in the vendor invoice to ensure vendor invoice follows the correct approval route.
  • Ensure the efficient and timely processing of vendor invoices including 3 Way purchase order matching, 2 Way purchase order matching, direct Invoice approval via coding groups and CIS /Tax deductions where applicable.
  • Deal with queries arising from either vendors or retained Council staff in a prompt and informative manner.
  • Process cash book postings including manual payments, BACS rejects and cancelled cheques.
  • Process supplier adjustments and reconciliations to general Ledger accounts (duplicate payments and Credit balance recovery).
  • Ensure statement reconciliations are carried out to agreed time frames and liaise with vendors for missing invoices.
  • Communicate with and develop good working relationships with relevant managers, vendors and internal colleagues.
  • Assist the Accounts Payable Manager and team leaders to develop best practices and team development.
  • System testing and project work as and when required.

Qualifications:


  • GCSEs or equivalent qualification or experience demonstrating that level of applied knowledge.

Experience:


  • Previous experience of handling high volume processing.
  • Minimum of 12 months recent experience in a similar role, or context and ideally within a public sector organisation.

Skills:


  • Strong analytical skills with an attention to detail.
  • Good communication skills both written and verbal.
  • Team member with the ability to work on own initiative.
  • Strong IT skills using Microsoft packages or equivalent (e.g. G Suite).
