    Job Description

    The Event Manager will help drive fundraising of vital unrestricted funds through managing and supporting on a wide-ranging portfolio of Fundraising and Stewardship events. These events vary from our annual Mothers' Ball, to intimate events such as Mother's Day and International Women's Day events, to the launch of a series of Cultivation and Prospecting events.

    This role will play a significant part in a high paced, varied team and will work to deliver first class events to raise ambitious financial targets. The Event team collaborates with all fundraising functions and this role will act as a thought leader to develop new events that move the needle for the organisation, and will allow income streams to unlock income in existing donors and bring new supporters to the organisation.

    The Event Manager will report to the Head of Events and line manage the UK Event Officer, providing guidance and supporting this role to develop their skill set. This externally facing role will work closely with high-net-worth donors, event committees, stakeholders and board members and build relationships to ensure the best outcome for mothers2mothers.

    1. Lead and manage the organisation and implementation of m2m events:

    • Lead and project manage The Mother's Ball, mothers2mothers flagship annual event to raise over £1m, working with internal and external stakeholders to create an iconic fundraising moment for the organisation.
    • Manage existing cultivation and fundraising events and create new dynamic, bespoke events around International Women's Day, Mother's Day and International Day of Girl and others, through collaboration with income streams, ensuring the needs of each donor audience are met, through the style and content of events delivered.
    • Lead on management of event volunteers and boards, motivating them about mothers2mothers and taking them on a stewardship journey with the organisation surrounding the events they are supporting to unlock new audiences, pro bono support and future partners.
    • Manage all aspects of event delivery of m2m events from inception to completion, using project management tools to keep internal and external stakeholders updated on progress.
    • Work closely in a consultant or advisor role with internal teams such as Philanthropy, Private Sector Partnerships, Institutional Partnerships and the African Philanthropy working group to project manage and support in planning and delivering their own smaller scale events.
    • Track and monitor stewardship activity for event attendees, ensuring good practice and minimum stewardship requirements are met.

    2. Develop Third Party Event Strategy and Portfolio:

    • Work with Head of Events to create and launch a global Third-party event strategy to unlock income through relationships with existing partners and supporters.
    • Develop relationships with Trustees, advisors, internal stakeholders and partners who can in turn pitch m2m as a charity partner of choice.
    • Develop suite of standardized assets, processes and pitching documents for different levels of events and options.

    3. Support the Head of Events to develop the event fundraising strategy to deliver event income in line with annual targets:

    • Support the Head of Events with the running of market leading world-class events for m2m. Collaborate in the brainstorming and recommendations on ideas, partners, event spaces and venues for future events.
    • Liaise with the Event team and global fundraising teams to clarify the purpose of different types of events and how they fit into overall resource management and engagement strategy.
    • Develop plans for a series of prospecting and cultivation events that provide all supporters with a touch point throughout the year that will enrich their relationship with m2m.
    • Work closely with income streams in order to understand their priorities and objectives to ensure events at m2m support fundraisers to achieve their prospecting and fundraising targets
    • Annually evaluate the m2m portfolio of events and ROI in order to achieve budget goals and maintain a sustainable events portfolio.
    • Follow best practise in all aspects of fundraising and keep abreast of the latest developments in Special Event fundraising.

    4. Ensure systems and processes are in place to effectively develop and manage all events:

    • Work closely with Event Officer to ensure Salesforce maintains accurate, up to date information and records on the fundraising database, ensuring all stewardship communications are logged.
    • Adhere to financial processes, pay event suppliers in a timely manner and manage pledge redemption.
    • Support the Head of Events in monitoring of income and expense budgets for all events, including paying close attention to ROI on an ongoing basis, including against year to date and plan.

    5. Line Manage Event Officer:

    • Responsible for people management aspect of direct report of Event officer.
    • Inspire the Event officer and lead with passion to develop team member in line with their ambition.
    • Meet with direct report, build capacity, performance manage, develop, motivate the event officer.

    Qualifications and Experience:

    • 4-6 years relevant experience of working in a fundraising event function.
    • Experience of engaging effectively with a range of audiences and building excellent interpersonal relationships with internal and external stakeholders
    • Experience of working on multiple projects concurrently
    • Experience of organising and conceptualising events and delivering against targets
    • Experience sourcing materials in order to develop, copy write and edit content.
    • Experience leading the management of an event committee.
    • Experience as a line manager (Preffered)
    • Experience of organising virtual events, ideally using systems such as Zoom Webinar, Instagram Live and Eventbrite.
    • IT skills including Word, PowerPoint, Excel and using database systems necessary.
    • IT skills in Adobe, MyEmma, InDesign, Salesforce are desirable.

    Competencies:

    • Excellent written, verbal and interpersonal skills, particularly the ability to write engaging and inspiring communications.
    • Methodical approach to work and excellent time management and organisational skills
    • Self-motivated to work independently and drive the completion of multiple projects simultaneously, prioritising workload to meet deadlines.
    • Must have excellent attention to detail.
    • An interest in and understanding of international development, HIV/AIDS and health.
