Band 5 Dietitian: 1 WTE for permanent position (37.An exciting opportunity has arisen for a permanent Band 5 Dietitian within the nutrition and dietetic department at the Walton centre.The Walton Centre is the UK's only standalone neurosciences NHS Trust, delivering a range of specialist neurological and pain services to a population of 3.5 million people across Merseyside, Cheshire, Lancashire, the Isle of Man and North Wales.

The Role will involve contribution to the delivery of the nutrition and dietetic service across The Walton Centre NHS Foundation Trust.
To undertake nutritional assessment and calculate nutritional requirements of referred in-patients with neurological conditions at the Walton Centre, taking into account medical, social and cultural factorsTo assist in the provision of the dietetic service to specialist clinical areas under supervision of the specialist dietitian as part of training and CPD
To provide nutrition and dietary advice suitable for the patients medical, social and cultural requirements which is evidence-based
To accurately record all assessments and interventions in medical notes, nursing documentation and dietetic records in line with Trust policy.

To contribute to and comment on departmental policies and matters relating to nutrition and dietetics and contribute to patient safety through clinical incident reporting.
To contribute to the Trust and Department Clinical Governance agenda by attending Clinical Governance meetings, undertaking audit projects as part of clinical practice and engaging in CPD and the Trust appraisal systemTo comply with the British Dietetic Association and Health Care Professions Council (HCPC) standards of professional conduct and adhere to requirements for professional practice and registration
Training and Development
To assist in delivering formal and informal training to other health care professionals and staff groups, to include pre and post registration training for nurses
To contribute to study days relating to nutrition and dietetics when required.
To assist in the clinical supervision of student dietitians including planning of programme during weeks of responsibility.
Degree/Diploma in Nutrition and Dietetics
Knowledge of nutritional needs and nutritional assessment of hospital in-patients
Competence to develop and monitor evidence-based nutritional care plans for hospital inpatients
Ability to document and record accurate records in line with local and national standards, recording activity and other data both manually and electronically
Able to complete allocated projects and tasks and meet deadlines
Have the necessary skills to train other healthcare professionals and student dietitians
Ability to undertake clinical audit and service evaluation projects.

Awareness of regulatory bodies (HCPC) and professional bodies (BDA), code of practice and professional guidelines
Commitment to take part in CPD and departmental appraisal system, undertaking further training as necessary
