The Role


As a Flight Operations (Training) Inspector you will be part of the UK's specialist aviation regulator, improving industry safety on behalf of the nation.

As a FO (Training)

Inspector, your main accountabilities will include:

Selecting, assessing and standardising industry Senior Examiners, conducting Examiner and Instructor assessments of competence; oversight of training organisations; Evaluation of FSTDs; Assisting with enforcement action when necessary.


About You

To be considered for the role you will need to be:

  • An experienced operator of single pilot helicopters, you should have considerable experience in a helicopters training environment as an instructor and an examiner
  • Professional qualifications in training and testing must include FI(H), FE(H) & TRE(H)
  • Single Pilot Senior Examiner, FICI, FE(H), CPL and FIE are highly desirable
  • Former military pilots who have attained at least A2 CFS Instructor category and who do not meet all of the above requirements will also be given consideration
  • Highly proficient in both spoken and written English with a valid medical, you will bring indepth knowledge and good communication skills
  • Must hold a full and valid UK driving licence to allow unrestricted UK travel

Additional Information
For many appointments within the CAA, these roles require access to operationally sensitive infrastructure and/or Nationally Protected information. For these roles the post holders must undergo National Security Vetting and achieve the appropriate level of clearance.


To be vetted we will usually expect a reasonable period of residency in the UK so that meaningful checks can be undertaken.

For this role this will need to be 3 years.
