Description
Who we're looking for

We're looking for someone to join our Trade Operations (Securities and Repo) team to help ensure that our equity, fixed income, and repo trades are managed end to end from confirmation through to settlement, and that any issues or fails are pro-actively dealt with and resolved.

You will also support the resolution of trade related overdrafts, interest claims, CSDR charges and stock/cash reconciliation breaks.

It's a fast paced environment with an emphasis on meeting tight deadlines, and we continually strive to find ways to innovate and become better at what we do.

About Schroders
We're a global investment manager.

We help institutions, intermediaries and individuals around the world invest money to meet their goals, fulfil their ambitions, and prepare for the future.

We have around 5,000 people on six continents. And we've been around for over 200 years, but keep adapting as society and technology changes. What doesn't change is our commitment to helping our clients, and society, prosper.

The base
You'll be based at our Broadlands Business Campus near Horsham in West Sussex. It's home to our EMEA Operations and Technology Operations hub.

It has the same high standards and international reputation as our HQ in the City of London, without being in the city: a big, countryside campus (and no commute on the Tube) means life will feel a little different.

The team

Trade Operations is made up of two teams of around 30 people in total, one team focused on equity, fixed income, and repo trades, and a second focused on FX and Unit Trust trades.

Within each team are smaller units dedicated to specific tasks, but we work hard to ensure that everyone identifies as part of our large group so we can share our challenges and successes together.

What you'll do

  • Ensure the trades you are responsible for are confirmed and settled on time, following up and escalating as appropriate.
  • Assist with the resolution of any trade related overdrafts, interest claims, CSDR charges and stock/cash reconciliation breaks assigned to you
  • Take ownership of any adhoc tasks and project work assigned to you, ensuring they make steady/timely progress.
  • Manage client and stakeholder queries proactively, with particular focus on quality and timeliness of communication
  • Utilise department controls and procedures honestly and effectively, taking steps to call out and minimise any risks
  • Suggest, explore and help to implement ideas to save time and cost, reduce risk and improve service quality.
  • Collaborate with others to help build a positive and supportive working environment
The knowledge, experience and qualifications you need

  • An active interest in the investment management industry
  • Strong aptitudes for numeracy and attention to detail in a fast paced office environment
  • Ability to remain calm under pressure and work on your own initiative
  • An innovative approach to problem solving and analysis
  • Proactive and forward thinking in communications with others
The knowledge, experience and qualifications that will help

  • Experience gained within a trade management team;
  • Understanding of equity, fixed income, and repo asset classes;
  • An understanding of market operations and local settlement processes; and
  • Awareness of the risks associated within trade operations with a proactive approach to preventative measures.
  • Wider experience in Asset Management and understanding of the end to end asset lifecycle
What you'll be like

  • Good at analysing and solving problem with a strong handle on operational risk;
  • Effective in managing your own time with ability to prioritise tasks appropriately;
  • Open to feedback, receptive to change, challenges status quo and continually looks out for team and self improvement opportunities;
  • Take a wider interest in other activities on the team and business, offering support wherever possible
  • Excellent communicator with strong interpersonal skills;
  • A strong team player able to develop and manage strong working relationships with global internal departments and external counterparties;
  • Able to adapt to changes quickly and be an advocator of an innovative culture within the team.
